This kit is designed to allow the installation of hydraulic roller cams standard 302 HO Ford V8 engines originally equipped with hydraulic roller cams. In order to use this kit, the engine must have two bosses cast into the block (Fig. 1) in the lifter valley area. These leaders may or may not be drilled and tapped for 1 / 4 “-20 bolts.
If your are not drilled and tapped, then you must be prepared to do so during this installation process. Once you have installed your COMP Cams ® Magnum Hydraulic Roller Cam for installation and camshaft degreeing instructions provided with the cam, you’re ready to install hydraulic roller lifters.
Installation instructions:
1. Install the lifters - Slide lifters in the lifter holes just like a normal lift, and then rotate until the flat surfaces on the sides of each lift everyone to the front lifter valley. Each lifter has two apartments, one on each side. No matter which overlooks the valley flat faces and cylinders. You may encounter some difficulties when trying to install the lifts at each end of the bank due to interference by an ear on each side of the head gaskets. Gently bend the ear out of the way, install the lifters, and bend the ear back into position. The purpose of this headset is to help locate the intake manifold gasket during assembly, so as not to bend or delete it permanently.
2. Installing the lift guide - The purpose of this guide is to prevent the lifting of rotation, thus maintaining the rotation of the wheels lift over the cam lobes as opposed to scrolling. With all the apartments in the lift line, install a lift of the eight guides on each pair of lifters downstream. They must be installed with the word “UP”, which is stamped into each guide facing up. No matter if the “UP” stamp is at the front or rear of the block. Forks at each end of the guides should nest on top of apartments on both sides of each lift.
