Jeep Peugeot 5 Speed Transmission To Chevy & Buick Engines PDF Installation Instruction Manual

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
This bellhousing is not compatible with transmissions that were previously equipped with diesel engines. The new bellhousing design incorporates the exclusive use of the original Jeep internal hydraulic release bearing assembly. The new bearing will need to be installed on the front of the transmission with the nylon straps in position. DO NOT REMOVE THE NYLON STRAPS PRIOR TO ASSEMBLY. Make sure that the new bearing is positioned over the front of the Peugeot transmission properly. The steel lines will need to be bent so that they exit through the Advance Adapter
bellhousing hole. If the new bearing assembly is not properly fitted to the front of the transmission, the bearing assembly will be angled causing seal failure. On most applications, you will need to grind the necessary clearance on the inside of the bellhousing in order for the bearing to sit in the proper position.
This bearing assembly must be used with a high profile Centerforce pressure plate. Make sure the bearing assembly does not bottom out against the clutch fingers prior to bleeding of the slave cylinder installation. The original Jeep pressure plate can be reused with the new GM flywheel. However, you must double check the deck height of the fingers versus the bearing height to make sure the necessary clearance is obtained. The only way to develop additional clearance between the clutch fingers and bearing height is to machine the flywheel thickness. We had an experienced of a customer that used a flywheel that was 1-1/8″ thick and during assembly, he developed a 1/8″ interference between the fingers
and the bearing. This interference created severe friction and caused premature seal failure. Take the extra time to measure the bearing height and finger height and allow for a minimum of 1/16″ clearance.
Make sure the tip of the input shaft has sufficient engagement into the pilot bushing.
1. Install the pilot bushing into the engine crank.
2. Install the flywheel, pressure plate & clutch disc onto engine using the correct flywheel and clutch bolts.
3. With the clutch and flywheel assembled, measure the deck height of the clutch fingers. This height should be approximately 3.875″.
4. Install the new Jeep release bearing onto the front of the Peugeot transmission. Make sure that the hole on the front of the transmission lines up with the plastic retainer cap. This small split pin will prevent the retainer from rotating inside the bellhousing. DO NOT REMOVE PLASTIC STRAPS. Make sure that new bearing assembly fits properly onto front of transmission without any binding of the hydraulic lines.
5. Assemble the transmission to the bellhousing using the original bolts and dowel pins.
6. With the bearing in position on the front of the transmission and the bellhousing bolted to the transmission, you will need to measure the bearing height from the engine face of the bellhousing. This distance must be approximately 4″ allowing for 1/8″ clearance between bearing and clutch fingers.
7. If the clearance between the bearing and clutch fingers is not provided, you will need to machine the flywheel to a thinner measurement that will provide the necessary clearances.
8. Assemble the bellhousing over the clutch assembly. Make sure the bearing face has clearance between the fingers and bearing surface. Premature collapsing of the slave cylinder assembly will damage the internal components. The face of the bearing must have clearance between the fingers prior to bleeding.
9. The hydraulic line between the Jeep master cylinder and the new Jeep hydraulic slave cylinder will need to be assembled together.
10. Bleed the slave cylinder assembly.
11. Check to make sure that the slave cylinder is fully disengaging the clutch plate. If you have any difficulties obtaining the necessary travel, contact Advance Adapters immediately.

The Ultimate Honda Engine Swap PDF Manual

Humankind has made a habit of one-upping the creator when it can benefit in some material sense. We figured out early on that playing match-maker to an ass and a horse produced a creature with the strength and stamina of a horse, but the nimble sure-footedness of an ass. (That would be a donkey for those of you not up on your cross-breeding techniques.) Given that as enthusiasts, we all want our cars to run like a thoroughbred and handle like, well… an ass, the notion of installing a larger engine in a lighter chassis is appealing.
The same rules that apply in nature pertain to the automotive world as well: The more closely related the parent forms, the more likely they are to produce a viable hybrid. Dropping a B16A from a Japanese domestic market Civic Type R into a US-spec Civic will be a whole lot easier, cheaper and more successful than dropping an NSX engine into the same car—though this has not stopped people from trying.
Unlike many manufacturers who often use a small number of different engines for their entire vehicle line, and do so for decades (ala Chevy and the 350), Honda has produced just a few four-banger engine series, but a dizzying number of variants. Combine Japanese domestic market engine choices with the same engine designation but higher output, as well as European market Hondas, and owners have a smorgasboard of engine variants to choose from.
Some engines, of course, are scarcer and more desired than others, leading to an unfortunate amount of Honda theft, though there are always engines with papers available (the only kind you want). Cars are not given the option of signing a donor card; should a Lincoln Navigator decide to back-half an Integra Type R, enthusiasts will arrive on the scene to strip the carcass of the engine faster than “1-800-SUE-4-YOU” lawyers can find whiplash victims.
Encouraged by the number of serious, performance-minded enthusiasts that comprise the Honda hybrid community, we are beginning a quest to comprehensively catalog every one of the reasonably feasible engine swaps. This quest begins in this issue, as we show the relatively easy swap of a B18B1 into a fifth-generation Civic hatchback (starting on page 136). Our engine swapping madness will not be confined to Hondas, either, as there are some very successful and well-tested hybrids with something other than H on the valve cover. The following tables are our first stab at untangling the complex web of engines, chassis, parts and kits that comprise the brave new hybrid world. The chart above will help you decide which swap to attempt, while the table on the next page will help you find the donor engine.
Look forward to more parts guides and other technical info for engine swaps in upcoming issues. The charts published in this issue can help render you a more educated buyer when selecting a engine, chassis, or transmission for your project (look for an upcoming Honda tranny guide to help better negotiate that particular quagmire). Engine swaps vary tremendously in complexity, but there is one ….

Chevy V8 1987-95 Saddle Mount YJ Wranglers PDF Installation Instructions

INSTALLATION PROCEDURES:
The saddle mount kit is designed to be used with 1987-95 YJ Wranglers. This mount is designed around a stock oil pan. If you are using an aftermarket oil pan, the maximum depth in the front is 4-1/2″. GM part number 12557558 (1986 and newer) has a front depth of only 3-1/2″ and provides the most mount to pan clearance We have designed this mount to position your new engine in the best location possible. Driveshaft modifications may be necessary depending on your application. We have had requests to allow some lateral adjustment with this mount. To supply this adjustment we have provided two 5/8″ spacers. Using these spacers, you can space the stock rubber mount 5/8″ to the front or rear of the saddlemount location.
This will allow 1-1/4″ of overall adjustment from front to rear. The 7/16″ flat washers must be used on both sides of the bolts that couple the GM rubber mount to our saddle mount. We have also provided a longer set of 7/16″ bolts for use when the 5/8″ spacers are being used. The stock motor mounts need to be completely removed from the frame before installing the new saddle mount. It is also recommended to remove the front shocks for ease of installation. Modifications to the skid plate (re-drilling) are required for ALL applications. An electric fuel pump is required for ALL applications. When installing the engine to the saddle mount, one rubber mount should be loosely fastened to the GM block and the second rubber mount should be installed to the saddle mount. As the engine is lowered into place, line up the rubber mount boltedto the block and fasten to the saddle; and then on the other side line up the three bolts of the rubber mount to the block. Once all the bolts are started, tighten all fasteners to secure the engine mounting.
The LT1 engine can be used with the bolt in YJ mount as long as you replace the A/C pump with the Chevy P/N 10115875. This is a replacement pulley for the LT1 that removes the A/C pump. The replacement pulley is slightly smaller in diameter and will require a new belt. The P/N 713087 mount is designed around a stock Jeep front axle. The photo above shows the mount with a Jeep that has a custom axle installed. The interference is due to the size of the axle housing and the lift that is installed. The axle is installed under the springs, a spring over on this axle would provide ample clearance for the mount. This is just an example of a potential interference problem.

Disconnect battery & remove all existing accessory drive brackets and components from motor. Remove water pump, scrape away any existing gasket material with a gasket scraper and dress surface with a Scotch Brite? pad. Clean and prep threads on engine block at water pump (3/8-16) and driver side bosses (7/16-14) by crank (for power steering kits). Use a 3/8-16 & 7/16-14 thread chaser if necessary. Thread chasers are available at your local auto parts store or tool dealer and are different from a thread cutting tool. Apply RTV sealer to one end of the four 3/8-16 x 3” threaded studs and thread studs into the water pump mounting holes and tighten. The studs can easily be tightened by threading two 3/8-16 zinc coated nuts onto the stud and tighten them against each other to act as a drive nut.
Install the large O-rings into both sides of the passenger side compressor bracket by seating them into the recessed groves. Place bracket over studs and seat up against engine block. Install the large O-rings into both sides of the driver side alternator bracket by seating them into the recessed groves. Place bracket over studs and seat up against engine block. For kits with power steering – apply anti-seize to the threads of the two 7/16-14 x 2-1/4” socket head cap screws and thread through the power steering bracket, alternator bracket and into engine block and finger tighten. For kits without power steering – apply anti-seize to the threads of the two 7/16-14 x 1-1/2” socket head cap screws and thread through the alternator bracket and into engine block and finger tighten
Install water pump onto studs (make sure O-rings are still seated). Apply anti-seize to exposed stud threads. Thread the four 3” spacer nuts onto the studs with the hex end out. Tighten all spacer nuts firmly at this time. Also tighten lower 7/16” cap screws on alternator bracket or power steering bracket.
STEP 1: Apply anti-seize to the threads of the two 5/16-24 x 3” socket head cap screws. Place power steering pump and pulley onto bracket and thread the two 5/16” socket head cap screws with 5/16” lock washers through pump into bracket and tighten firmly.
STEP 2: Apply anti-seize to the threads of four 8mm-1.25 x 25mm 12pt. ARP cap screws. Align bridge bracket mount holes with the four spacer nuts. Install the four 8mm 12pt. ARP cap screws and tighten firmly
Alternator: Apply anti-seize to the threads of the 10mm-1.5 x 8mm ARP 12pt. cap screw and a 8mm-1.25 x 25mm ARP 12pt. cap screw. Place alternator between lower bridge bracket and alternator bracket and thread the long ARP 12pt. cap screw through the bridge bracket, alternator and into the alternator bracket and finger tighten. 10mm shim washers are provided to shim the alternator boss to the bridge bracket. The alternator boss may vary in width due to the polishing process. Place the 8mm slide spacer with the small end towards bridge bracket on
the short ARP 12pt. cap screw, align top alternator boss with bridge bracket and thread the cap screw and slide spacer through bridge bracket and into alterna- tor boss and finger tighten.
Compressor: Apply anti-seize to the threads of the 3/8-16 compressor shoulder bolt and two 8mm-1.25 x 25mm ARP 12pt. cap screws. While supporting the compressor, place the shoulder bolt and washer into the back compressor mount boss and align with compressor bracket on motor and finger tighten.
